Design Objective:
Design a series of posters using the cut-paper technique. Include ideation sketches, process development, and final set of layered compositions emphasizing gestalt principles
Design Brief:
This cut paper poster series explores Gestalt principles through playful, dog-inspired compositions. Concepts began with sketches using an outdoor setting of fences and trees to reflect the active nature of dogs. Each poster highlights a principle such as symmetry, similarity, closure, continuation, proximity, and figure-ground, using simplified forms to communicate each idea clearly. Layered paper elements add depth while maintaining structure across the series. Design choices focus on how viewers interpret visual relationships, using techniques like partial outlines, repeated shapes, and mirrored forms. Subtle changes in scale and arrangement keep the series cohesive. A bold, handwritten-style typeface supports the playful tone.
